VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
LVLC welcomes volunteers from the community at large, as well as any local university students who wish to become more involved in the community during their years in higher education.
Volunteer positions: Tutors, Administrative Volunteers, Board members and AmeriCorps*VISTA members.
- Volunteer tutors participate in a 14 hour training workshop. After completing the workshop, tutors are matched with adult learners who request services. Volunteers are asked to commit to tutoring for one year. Volunteers meet with learners twice weekly for one hour or once a week for 1 1/2 hours. Workshops are offered three to four times per year. To participate, send us your mailing address.
- Administrative volunteers assist with learner intake and assessment, preparing workshop material, and answering the telephone.
- Board members provide guidance for the organization, set policy and coordinate fund-raising activities.
